Award-winning journalist Tara Kangarlou is the founder of Art of Hope, a non-profit organization helping Syrian refugees who have been forced into displacement through art-therapy and vocational training to help alleviate some of the mental and psychological traumas they are suffering from.
Kangarlou has witnessed the Syrian conflict first-hand, reporting on the ground in the Syrian border regions of Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey. She realized there is a severe lack of psychosocial support to the victims of this conflict and has weaponized her frustration in this by creating a platform to have a positive, lasting impact on those suffering. Her strength and integrity in not only reporting these people’s stories but influencing and impacting their lives are incredibly inspiring.
